DIY disaster--averted!

DIY disaster--averted!

I saw this on Weddingbee:

Moss Covered Letters

And I decided I wanted to try it myself. Since I'm too lazy to cut out the letters myself, I got someone to do it for me on eBay. I got moss, I bought some small silk flowers to decorate it further. I couldn't find greening pins, but I thought I could just glue it like the Bee says. Well, the bag has hardly any moss in it, it made my hands itch terribly, it did NOT stick to the letter at all, and it basically looked like crap.

So, I'm left with two 20' tall pink foam letters, a bag of moss, and some silk flowers. I could buy more moss, and I see that Save-On-Crafts has greening pins for $6, just way more than I'd ever need. What should I do? Try again? Cover the letters with fabric? I thought about covering them entirely with silk flowers, but they're big, it would take a LOT of flowers.

I wish I knew someone I could pay to finish this project.

Edit--Stephanie from SAS Designs loves the idea, loves the project, so she's going to help me out. I'm going to ship all the stuff to her tomorrow. Yay! Crisis averted.

what type of glue are you using? Try a few diff. glues like rubber cement and craft glue.

I did try a couple--two craft glues, and another one, not sure what it was. Didn't want to try the adhesive spray as I don't like using it in the apartment and it's getting chilly out.

I remembered someone on here who had the most amazing petal cones made, so I looked them up and sent email to the person who made them, asking if she could help me. So, we'll see. If not,--really not much time, and it's busy wedding season--maybe I can come up with something else. Maybe cover them with fabric instead, or paper.. I really don't want to do the moss, my hands got very irritated. If I try that again, I'll have to wear gloves.
