DIY Floral Arrangement for the church

Original post by RabiaElaine

I went to walmart yesterday since AC Moore and Michaels were closed for easter.

I spent $150 buying supplies but not just for this.

These arrangements cost about $50 each to make. I don't think I could get something this lush from a florist w/ real flowers. And I figure I can find places for them in my home afterwards, so I'll really get a lot of use out of them.

My supplies:
2 vases for $1.97 each
3 bags of lilac stones $2.97 each
8 Wisteria branches (the hanging purple flowers, 4 per arrangement) $7 each
4 white flower bunches (can't remember what type of flower they are, 2 per arrangement) $3 each
6 small purple flower branches (can't remember what type of flower they are, 3 per arrangement) $1.76 each
2 tall white flower branches (can't remember what type of flower they are, but they are the ones that are sticking up at the top, 1 per arrangement) $3 each

I am going to sit them on columns at the front of the church on either side of where FH and I will stand.

Let me know what you think.

GREAT idea, and very good job! I think I am going to try and recreate them!

2 quick questions:
1. What size vase did you use?
2. Did the flowers you show in purple come in white/ivory, orange, or red?

Yes they are fake as well. I bought the pew flowers from Lasting Art in the flower district in manhattan.

Thanks!

1) The vase is about 10 inches in height or something like that. I would say the diameter is about 4 inches.

2) I honestly don't remember. Walmart has a pretty big selection of florals. Their purple section is pretty limited though, but red/white/ivory are in abundance. Probably orange too.

I would go to walmart (or wherever you choose to buy ur silks) and take your time trying out different arrangements right there in the store before you buy them. I did that, I was there for over an hour though, but it was worth the time, because I got them exactly the way I wanted them. I was also able to buy the exact amount of everything I needed so I didn't run out.

These look so beautiful! I went to Wal-mart today and bought white wisterias and some other colors to copy your arrangement. I was having trouble deciding on floral arrangments for the church, but these are great! Thank you!
