I am helping plan my best friends wedding and I will most likely be doing her flowers as well. I have read countless books on floral design and it is something I am passionate about but I normally just get my flowers from my local flower shop. Obv for larger scale jobs it is not cost effective to go through a local florist to get the supplies. Is anyone doing/done their own flowers and where will/did you get them from. I found a few online retailers that will ship overnight but I am a little leery of that, has anyone done this? I think if I used them I would get a small shipment well before hand to see what kind of quality the flowers are. ETA: Just realized I prob should have posted this on the DIY board... Ill remember that for next time

Re: DIY Flowers
im ordering my gerbera daisies from towers flowers two nites before, so they open up. Im doing long stem w/ bows for my BM's, and a bigger boquet for me, with ribbon also. the rest im gonna put in a couple vases, one by the bar, one on a couple of my coctail tables
Try towers flowers nesconset.. tell her your doing DIY... shes an acquaintance of mine that i know.

Re: DIY Flowers
i know this is going to sound crazy but try Costco, we wanted very simple rose villed vases as centerpieces for our engagement party and costco was great. we got 6 dozen for under $50 and they lasted for nearly 2 weeks!
here are 2 pics so you can see what good quality they were
