DIY Flowers or Florist.....(esp those who DIY Flowers)

Hi Ladies....

I can really use your help....(esp. those who did DIY Flowers)

I just came back from a florist to price out and was quoted $800 for:

1 bridal bok orchids and roses
5 BM boks roses
2 Jr BM boks
FG Petals

1 FH Bout.
5 GM Bout

and 3 parents corsages

now....i was going to do all the flowers myself and just use roses...it would probably cost me about $80....but then obviously i would have to stay up the nite before and do them all....

do you think its worth the stress and headache...or should i cough up the the $$...

HELP!!! i cant decide

I would say try not to make this a DIY project. You're going to have SO much going on the day before you wedding (running around with last minute errands, the rehearsal, RD, etc.) so putting together bouquets and boutineers is not what you're going to be wanting to do.

If you don't want to spend as much, I would suggest cutting out the orchids from the arrangements. That should lower the price a bit.

ETA: Have you gotten quotes from any other florists? If you shop around you may get a better price.

I agree with Jenny0898..... there are many places you can DIY.... favors, ring pillow, invitations, unity candle.... but I wouldn't do the flowers. you're not equipped for it. They have giant humid refrigerators to store stuff.. I have heard nightmare stories where flowers died or froze in the refrigerator overnight. you'll have enough butterfies the days before the wedding just touching base with every vendor, and making final payments....

However, you would be able to DIY the flowers if they were silk....

Silk is a great way to go if you're going to go the DIY route. That way you can start nice and early and if anything does go wrong you've got pleanty of time to fix it.

i totally agree even though im not a big flower budget because im splurging elsewhere i cant be having the headache to do the flowers! too much stress, i wana get a good nights restt!

i wouldnt do it and just shop around for flower quotes ! good luck

ETA: I believe the woman you'd want to deal with is named Nina. I just saw her mentioned in a review yesterday. A bride was raving about her work and had wished she'd used her to make her bo-k instead of James Cress. I'll go look for it.

If nothing else works out for you, they may be worth the drive to meet with. Heck the day of, it's their responsibility to deliver the flowers. Ordering from them would be like girls in suffolk ordering from National Wholesale Floral.

Have you tried Burton's? I am getting more than that for like $300 less...oh, and the type of flowers you get with them doesn't matter. They all cost the same. HUGE savings right there.

We did use Flowers By Burton. I was extremely pleased with their work...
