DIY Flowers or Florist.....(esp those who DIY Flowers)

It depends. I'm going to do my own flowers, but I'm hoping to NOT be running around with last minute errands. Since I know I'm going to be doing the flowers, everything else will need to be taken care of beforehand. And we're not having a rehearsal dinner, other than a small one of 'we've got to eat.' No big thing. We're trying to save money here, we're not going to blow another grand or more on a rehearsal dinner. We're paying for this ourselves, and there's no way my FFiL is going to pay for the RD, and I wouldn't expect him to. (My FMIL passed away six weeks ago.)

We're going to do the stripping and cutting of the flowers on Friday, put together the bouquets, CPs and bouts on Saturday, after which they will get dunked back in water ready for transport to the RH, and then I will get my nails done. It's better that I wait until the last minute for the nails anyway, with my luck I'll ruin one packing for the honeymoon!

i just got another quote...its 1385, but includes alot!!
i have 3 more appts this weekend, then i'll make up my mind....i cant beleive i'm seeing so many florists....dont think i saw this many for RH!

Hi Ladies....

I can really use your help....(esp. those who did DIY Flowers)

I just came back from a florist to price out and was quoted $800 for:

1 bridal bok orchids and roses
5 BM boks roses
2 Jr BM boks
FG Petals

1 FH Bout.
5 GM Bout

and 3 parents corsages

now....i was going to do all the flowers myself and just use roses...it would probably cost me about $80....but then obviously i would have to stay up the nite before and do them all....

do you think its worth the stress and headache...or should i cough up the the $$...

I'm all for DIY but I think this is a big project!! I think it's best to hire a florist. Making all this is going to be the last thing you're going to want to do the night before! I here a lot about Flowers by Burton!

I'm not sure where in Queens you are, but there is a Stop n Shop in Queens now...

I too am on a budget, but what I decided to do was to use Burtons for all the bouquets, corsages and bouts and then DIY the CP's (which incidentallym, I don't know what I'm doing yet ).

DIY'ing flowers is a big job. I inquired into it and then figured that it was better to pay for personals and perhaps do non-floral CP's.

I've seen a lot of good ideas for centerpieces with candles and some rose petals!! Very elegant and you can save a lot of money that way!

i know!!! b/c the CPs are costing me $700....so i'm trying to decide if i should do it (roses in a square vase) or just have rose petals and votives...
