So girls, are there any florists out there that will only charge a nominal fee to come set up DIY centerpieces? We had our centerpiece quote come in around $5600, but we can DIY it for about $1200 and it looks beautiful. I just cant see paying all that money for something we can do for less than half. So do you know of a florist? Another company? Or any other way to get our centerpieces set up the day of the wedding?

Re: Diy friendly florists?
Could you put a creative BM or family friend in charge of them? Or hire a DOC just for the one day help?

I was gonna say DOC also. They will probably make sure it all gets set up for you.

THIS!! Maybe you could get a 1/2 day DOC? Somebody posted once that 1/2 day runs about $300.

I thought I was dead-set against DOCs, but I may get a 1/2 day one too because of all the DIY things I have.

I thought about putting a BM on it, but I'd rather them be able to stick with us and party. If I hire a DOC, will they be the one physically putting everything together? Do they bring people in? lol, how does a DOC work?

Call the girls from Cheek Glam, you won't be disappointed, they will help you with so much more than just this.

A DOC is a good way to go. I think Michelle from Hidden Essence also said she would put together DIY centerpieces at the hall for a small fee.

Re: Diy friendly florists?
I am contemplating the same thing. We are allowed in our hall an hour before the reception starts but that is for us to take pictures. I was thinking about asking one of my friends who I trust would see my vision and carry it out for me. I keep being told it is an honor to be asked to help out during a wedding. I see it as I might be an inconvenience for someone. I want to party at a wedding, not work it. So I am also thinking about a DOC.

I'm in the same boat! My fiance and I really don't have the money to add one to our budget, but I am making my centerpieces too and I just worry that everything won't get set up exactly as I want it and I am considering hiring one anyway.
I hear good things about Cheeky Glam, but they weren't available for my date. The ladies at AMDA offer a $300 package for 2 DOC's for 6 hours, so you would not only have someone with you while you get ready, you would also have someone who could come to the hall and set up everything. Usually DOC's are also wedding planners, so they tend to have a good eye for things like centerpieces and decorations. And I don't know if you would find a florist willing to come just to do set-up, but of course I could be wrong.
