diy help

i'm considering doing my first diy project i'm not very crafty, so i don't really know how this is going to work out.

i was thinking i'd pick up some letters at michaels for the cake table, like LOVE or WE DO. what size letters should i get? what kind of paint should i get? what do i use to stick crystals on the letters?

please helppppp!

I want to do this too....I was thinking 8' or 9' letters, definitely use acrylic paints ( sold in the wood section of the craft store)...just keep in mind if the wood is dark, you might want to use a primer or white paint first, otherwise the color you use will come out much darker.
For the rhinestones I'm going to use a rhinestone setter, but you can use any clear industrial strength glue.

I made this sign with all materials from michaels last week. If you do just the letters, not on the plaque, I would get bigger ones but the letters I bought were about 5 or 6 inches I think. I used the acrylic paint (in the wood section). I used Navy and Fuschia since those are the colors I am using then I used a 'Diamond Glaze' on top which dries shiny and clear with some glitter in it. The rhinestones on the side I actually found in the scrapbook section and you just peel and stick them on, the hold seems to be pretty strong. I was very happy with how easy it was to do.

i like that you mounted them on a backing...prevents the groomsmen from turning it into 'do me', which i have seen so many times

I might have to mount mine too because I can see our groomsmen doing something like that
