DIY Invitations
We are thinking about making our own invites but I worry it may be too hard. Can I see what you ladies have done.

Re: DIY Invitations
I started my invites last weekend. I don't have a photo of my finished project, but this is the design:
I won't lie -- they are a lot of work, but I'm really happy with the finished project. These were a pretty complicated design & assembly, but I'm having a small wedding so I don't need to make hundreds. I'd suggest something simpler if you have to make a lot.

Re: DIY Invitations
Are you thinking of doing it because of the lower cost, or because you want something unique? The reason I ask is that we thought about it, to cut costs, but after looking around at prices, we decided that we probably only would have saved about $50-70 dollars and to me it wasn't going to be worth the aggravation. We got our invitations from an online site that was really reasonable. With all the other stuff to do as the time of the wedding got closer, I was afraid I would make myself nuts.We did make our own programs, and that wasn't bad at all.

Re: DIY Invitations
Why do you think it is hard? Doesn't it just involve printing out words on the already decorative background paper? Is it hard to physically print on the response cards and envelopes? I was planning on doing it myself because the invitations aren't that important to me and I thought we could save a whole bunch of money by printing them ourselves. Now I'm wondering...

Re: DIY Invitations
Just another thing to throw out there about this topic (because I am not that busy at work, LOL...) We looked at the DIY kits that had about 50 invitations and response cards, which we thought would be fine. However, I didn't like that I would have no inner envelope for the invitations and we did have a few unusual situations of families getting one invitation and not wanting certain people to assume their kids were invited, so I definitely wanted the inner envelopes. So either I would have to find and buy additional envelopes to fit the DIY kit invites or do something else altogether.Maybe this doesn't apply to you, but thought it might be good to know before you make a decision....

Re: DIY Invitations
I bought many DIY invitation kits (invite and envelope only) to use the paper for menus.I had a really hard time getting the type to line up correctly. I couldn't figure out if the problem was with my printer or my version of word.
However, I tried it on my parents' computer, which has an older version of Word and windows and has a different printer. The samples I did there came out fabulous!
I almost wish I hadn't bought different invitations because these would have been fine for my invites.
