I saw these invitations on sale at target.com: http://www.target.com/Baroque-Flat-Panel-Invitation-Kit-50-pk/dp/B00159Z17C/qid=1232228145/ref=br_1_10/184-8656135-8960464?ie=UTF8&node=356129011&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=target&field-browse=356129011&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=9
I was thinking of buying chocolate brown cardstock to layer them. It looks like the only enclosure card is an rsvp card and it doesn't seem like you can purchase more separately. Is making your own invitations more trouble than it's worth? Do you print them on your own printer or take them to a printer? If I wanted to layer it, what would I use to attach them, rubber cement?
Is there a helpful site I should look into? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: DIY Invitations
I bought my invitations as a kit at Michael's. it came with outer envelopes, RSVP cards and their envelopes. you get 50 of each so you shouldn't need extras and the advice you read is just to make sure you buy enough to allow for mistakes so if you need 100 invites you shoub pretty much count to buy 3 boxes.
I needed 55 invites so had alot left over for printer oops. but i wound up using the extras to do bridal shower thank yous - - I changed the wording to suit that and then did hand written notes in addition. and the little RSVP envelopes are good for tips.
AC Moore and Michael's has a selection of different style invites so you may find something you like that you don't need to add to. and you can save at these stores by using their 40% and 50% coupons.
As to your question of using brown stock and attaching it . . .
my invite had flat panel with a design on it and a vellum overlay on which I typed the invite wording. These had holes at top and came with ribbon to tie them together. that is a nice finish for invites that you could use if you buy the Target ones.
here's mine. and they were very easy to print. you just need to take some time to do page setup and choose the font style and size you like.
