DIY invites

DIY invites

so FH and I are trying to do as many things ourselves as we can and have been discussing whether or not it would be a good idea to do our invitations ourselves. i know you can by the paper and all that and print them out yourself. but im curious to see if any of you have done this. if so, how did they come out? where did you get the supplies? and was it worth it moneywise in the end?

Re: DIY invites

I did DIY invites for my mothers bday party 2 years ago and they came out beautiful. Everyone thought we had them made. For the wedding I am also going to DIY, but I am not using the brides kit, I am buying the pocket fold invites online, with cardstock and add the ribbon and the bling.

Re: DIY invites

Here are my invites, bought at Michael's and used a 40% off coupon for each box of 30. Save mega $$. So easy to print.

DIY kit

My actual invites have our pic on the right and we left off the bow. I LOVEd them and almost everyone asked me where I ordered them from. They didn't believe I did them myself. I used great fonts, customized it all, for rsvps added accent color (red) for our names only... looks so classic. Also, in this pic you can't see the second slot to add the directions, but there are 2 slots in the left pocket fold. I used one for the rsvp card and envelope, the other for directions. If I had a decent pic, I would upload it.

Re: DIY invites

I'm going to DIY mine--there are a lot of different websites where you can get your materials.

I've ordered samples from:

mountaincow.com (my favorite)
cardsandpockets.com
paperandmore.com
envelopme.com
mygatsby.com
http://www.invitationpaper.com/

There are a lot of great resources out there!

Re: DIY invites

i did very simple invitations but i love them

i found the invitation kit at target which came with nice paper (thick and has a nice texture), RSVP cards, and envelopes.

I'll be honest - it took FOREVER to get the correct formatting and whatnot (probably about 4 or 5 hours) and another two-ish hours for printing.

In the end, i think it was totally worth it! They ended up costing just under a dollar each.

If you want to see pictures, check out the 'my wedding' album i have.

Where did you get the design on the bottom from?

Re: DIY invites

I did this using the DIY Brides kits from Michael's. They actually came out really beautifully and with the use of many 40% coupons, they cost less than a dollar each invite.

However, it was a pain to do. Fortunately, I have a *wonderful* printer (HP deskjet 3100 series- highly recommend especially for invites and stuff!) but it still took a lot of trial and error to line all the text up to print properly, despite the helpful templates they provide online. But, we did it and I'm PROUD to say we did them ourselves. I have some pics in my albums, but since I'm sending out my b-list invites today, I'll try to take better pics to show you! HTH!
