DIY Invites - MS Word/PDF help!!

DIY Invites - MS Word/PDF help!!

So I've decided to do invitations myself. I'm buying the supplies from cardsandpockets.com and having them print the invite card and 3 enclosures for me. They can only accept PDF files. Rather than pay for a PDF suite from an Etsy vendor, I designed the invite and 3 enclosures myself on MS Word. But when i try to convert the word files to PDF's, it doesn't convert to the correct size! They all convert to 8.5 x 11 PDF files. Help! I'm using PDF Complete and it was a free version that I have at work. I could always pay someone on Etsy to do it but I've already designed the whole thing so I feel like that's a waste of money at this point! Unfortunately, I have never worked with Illustrator or PhotoShop...MS Word is as far as my skills go lol. Does anyone know of a free PDF program that will convert size?

TIA!

What do your invitations look like? Do they have photos, any design elements? What are the dimensions of your invitation? What size paper are you printing on?

I work with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign on a regular basis.

Try changing the page setup to the right size paperbefore converting.

No photos, no design elements - just text. I'm planning to add ribbon to them after they are printed and that will be my design element.

Dimensions are:
- invitation: 5.625' x 5.625'
- enclosure 1: 5' W x 3.5' H
- enclosure 2: 5' W x 4.625' H
- enclosure 3: 5' W x 5.75' H

Thanks!!

I've never tried to design something like that in Word but I use PowerPoint all the time to make posters. You can change the slide size and then save it as a PDF. Never had an issue with printing :)

It seems to be an issue other people are having online. I think it is simply a limited capability of Microsoft Word.

Do you have Photoshop? You can make a simple text invitation in there and save in PDF in any size, no problem.

What are cardsandpockets.com print requirements? They might have something on their site to guide you on how to make a PDF for your invites.

EDIT: Mab30 brought up a good point. Powerpoint is another great way to go.

When you print make sure the page setup is set to the correct size under the 'printer' options. Microsoft Word can be finicky with different pages sizes and even if your page that you are typing on shows the right size, the print size might not reflect that size. I know this because I printed all of my invitations, RSVP cards and information cards myself.

Did it! Recreated it in power point and was able to save the slide in pdf in the perfect size without using my crappy pdf software!

Thank you all for your suggestions/help!!

Thanks but I'm not actually printing it, just trying to convert it to PDF
