II wanted to find out if anyone has ever made there own ceremony arch.. They have one at my CH/RH but they are charging me 300 and they won't allow me to move it to the reception room or take it with me.. My mom wants to decorate one herself... Anybody have ideas on how to do this...

I have never made one but I just ran a google search for you...
one of the bridal consultants on that page posted:
'One idea is to purchase a white lattice arch from a craft or wholesale decorator store. They are pretty inexpensive, easy to move and decorate. We usually decorate the arch with white tulle, green ivy and flowers that resemble the wedding colors. '
I agree paying $300 to rent one seems like highway robbery... I don't know if making it yourself would run you more but it doesn't hurt to look into it... You could use silk flowers if it's less expensive...

Try checking out floral supply places-you know, like nurseries. They sometimes sell and rent them. Or try a florist if the DIY seems too daunting. Save-on-crafts has them-we were thinking of using it till we booked our RH-they have a gazeebo so we're getting married by it.
The ones on save-on-crafts have to be painted and decorated. They show you ideas.
Michael's is selling arches for $39.95 and a bolt of tulle for $39.95....
FH and I are going to buy the arch from there and set it up so our florist can decorate it...It's much cheaper than renting it from the florist for $200!!

i was going to do that.. but decided to have the florist take care of that.. the $300 prob included set and decorations and the break down of the arch after the ceremony...
check out itslaurie 's review.. i believe she made her own and kittythestray(?) think thats her screen name.. hth

i think it's different for each florist..i thought the $200 would include decorations...but it didn't it was $200 just for them to set up the arch and another $195 for them to decorate it. So I'm going to buy it and set it up myself the day of and weave tulle in it and then have the florist decorate it when they get to the RH

I am renting these for $110 and decorating them. Its called a colonnade arch. If you like it you can call any party rental store to see if they have it. Good luck.
