DIY Venues
Hey all,Newly engaged and my fiancé and I are looking for more rustic DIY types of venues. We've looked at Hallockville Farms and a few vineyards out on the North Fork. We've also tried looking at Driftwood Farms out in Orient, but it seems they're having town-related issues. Any ideas (PLEASE)???
We're looking just for a basic place that can accommodate somewhere under 250 people. We're pretty flexible, while trying to keep it not costly. Looking for more of a barn/old warehouse/rustic type of place, then hire a caterer, etc. Also considering renting a residential home for the weekend. I guess something fairly unique.
Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated!!

Look up the Foundry in Long Island City gorgeous Rustic/industrial venue. Also I hear Old Bethpage Restoration has a Barn they rent out but I've never seen it.

Re: DIY Venues
Most of the places that are different don't hold many people. The Old Bethpage Restoration Village hold more than enough people. We went that route, however you are stuck with their caterer and all their vendors. We wee not impressed by their caterer. When we went to sit down with them the girl couldn't even answer most of our questions. If you want to use a different caterer you can, however there is a $25 per person fee to use someone else. If you want more info on anything else let me know as I tried to do the same thing you are looking to do.
You might like the Thatched Cottage.

Re: DIY Venues
We didn't even think of Bethpage Restoration - that's a great idea, though now I'm not looking forward to having the catering conversation. We're looking to do more of a crafty buffet-style dinner - not sure how that would fly there, but we'll see.Foundry looks very cool - We'll have to check that out. So does Thatched Cottage, though it looks a little more of a 'wedding mill' type of place. Beautiful location though.
Thanks for the suggestions! We wouldn't mind even checking out places in the Westchester area. Main concerns are really dancing space, great food and hopefully lenient time restrictions.
