DIY Worries

DIY Worries

So, I want to save some money on invitations... and FH and I were pretty set on going to Michaels and buying a pack and making them ourselves - but is it really that easy? I'm so afraid I'm going to ruin them or print something the wrong way haha

How many brides made their own invitations?

I was going to do my own also, till I saw what a friend of mine went through. Pain the a**. Then again depends on how sophisticated you want them. But I still have nightmares from helping her

If you are looking to save, just keep it cheap. Go to a party store, a party city or something like that. That's what we did, and we were able to get elegant and simple invites with the response cards and all the extras....came to about $300. HTH

There are soooo many threads on here with pics of gals who did their own invites. Depending on what you want, you seriously could save hundreds by doing them yourself. BTW, you can ask your bridal party for help....after all....that is why they are in your bridal party

i have to say, i was all set on DIY invites...but I just received an invite to a summer wedding on Monday and it was not good. The ink smeared and there were parts of the invite you could barely read..so just be careful.
I have seen some online sites that are reasonably priced. Davids bridal for one has a section of invites that you get 100 invites for $50 or something...and you can order free samples online prior to ordering anything.

good luck

It was really pretty easy for me. I used the Brides kit from Michaels. It was kinda a pain to line up the margins for the RSVP cards, but that was the only difficulty I ran into. The actual invites were easy as pie! And they came out gorgeous!

I bought the BRIDES DIY invites from Michaels. So far, they have been SUPPPPER easy to print out and put together. They give you a link to a website and you just follow the templates. I added some lil crystals to give it some bling!

You can do it! Good luck!

for me it was such a pain and with how much i spent on ink i dont think i saved to much money. The only reason why I did it myself was because i could not find ANY invites that I liked that went with my theme (butterflies) if i could have i probably would have just ordered them!

I'm DIYing! So far I'm working on the folders. Its going to cost about $12 for 100 (pics in my profile) I havent started on the printing yet other than 1 test to make sure they would come out ok, but its really going to save a ton of money. Just give yourself plenty of time and you should be fine!

I actually went as far as to design my own invites on photoshop. I then bought what i needed from cardsandpockets.com. I am however having a professional print them. It will bring up the cost a bunch more, but in the long run it's so worth it. I will have double layered chandelier motif invites with crystals and ribbons.

I bought the BRIDES DIY invites from Michaels for my engagement party and they turned out BEAUTIFUL ... everyone was asking about them!! They are not hard to do BUT they are kinda time consuming so I would say go for it!! Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time :)

I ordered Birchcraft Studio invitations from a website called http://dreamyoccasions.com/
They offer a 41% discount versus retail.
Total cost came to about 300 for 125 invites.
I thought it was pretty reasonable.

This is my invite

I bought my invites from DB, very cheap but good quality...I think they were about $60 for 100 invites plus I had a coupon for 30% off. I bought some stuff at Michaels to add some bling to them.

we did it for my sisters... as long as you have a good printer you'll be fine

Okay awesome! We only need about 50 invites, not even, and most places don't give a decent discount on invitations unless you pass the 100 mark... Thanks for the feedback! I think we're going to go for it!
