DIY...er, GIY Flowers

Grow it yourself flowers? Anyone growing their own flowers or a particular flower for their wedding? I'm guessing not but just thought I'd ask.

I really want White Amaryllis for my bridal bouquet but the florist said it might be tricky to get around the time of my wedding (they are more of a winter flower). But my research online states otherwise, and i can even order my own bulbs and plant them myself! My mom has a gardon so I wonder if she'd help me!

Here's my inspiration, though I'm going to add some blue hydrangeas for a touch of color:

I play Farmville on FB, my dad would joke with me and say grow your flowers for your wedding there LOL

If you do this, too, we should start our own GIY thread and maybe we can make it the new DIY wedding trend!

I think it would just be an enjoyable project for the wedding! and if a month or so before they aren't looking ready, just tell my florist to do the backup plan!

I have brown thumbs but LOVE this idea! Go for it!

Yeah! I'm gonna ask the guy at work who does all the planting for tips. He's got like a whole green hand and knows everything about flowers.
