I made this extensive list and decided to stop putting so many songs. I am going to trust my DJ and give him about 20-25 must plays..

On our 'do not play'- Any type of line-dance song, anything by Katy Perry, Train, or Lady Gaga, nothing from Grease & none of the typical over-played 80s songs.

Re: DJ do and do not play list

I only had about 7-8 songs on my do not play list.

As for the do play list, I spoke to my DJ (who was my cousins company) and he pointed out something to think about. Figure a song is about 4-5 minutes long on average. For a 4 hour party that's about 1080 songs if they play none stop from the say 6-10. Now take out your entrances, your first dance, father daughter, mother son, cake cutting, dinner, dessert, cake cutting, boK, garter and everything else that goes along with it. PLUS, there is no DJ or band that plays from 6PM sharp to 10PM sharp none stop with no interuptions. We figured it all out and while it sounds weird they really only play about 70-80 songs for the night (as long as there is nothing remixed). He told me 'if you trust me and want me to do my job then don't tell me exactly what to play the whole night. I do this for a living. It's insulting when clients tell me exactly what songs to play. If you want a do not play list then that's fine, but don't give me a crazy do play list unless it's something out of the ordinary.'

With our DJ we are creating his playlist. FH is a musician and is in full control of what he is allowed to play.
