The DJ that I booked will bring a bunch of little favors like glow necklaces, hats, glasses, Mardi gras beads and stuff like that. They want to charge $200 more for these items as part of one of our packages. I told them to deduct that amount because I really don't want all that stuff. I may buy a few simple things for later in the night to be handed out on the dance floor. Any suggestions? I think I am going to just buy from Oriental Trading.

Re: DJ Favors??
Oriental Trading is great. I've ordered a bunch of things from them before. A lot of other 08 brides have had great service from them as well.

I feel the same way...but I was the MOH at my cousin's wedding and she didnt want anything either so she limited it to sunglasses and some beads.....it actually made for some great bridal party pics on the dance floor. I just want to do a few things......sometimes people look for them...especially if it will get the non-dancers onto the floor for at least one song.

You can definitely bargain with them. If you don't want the favors tell them that if its in the package and have them deduct it. You shouldn't pay for anything that you don't want or can do yourself for a lot less.

Re: DJ Favors??
oriental trading or party city has that type of stuff. we arent doing the nandouts, we really dont have any kids and we felt like handouts are more for less formal parties. But if its something that you want to do, go for it.

You might want to check with your DJ to make sure he will pass out things that he didn't sell you....just a good question to ask before you order a bunch of stuff.

Re: DJ Favors??
Hey- $200 isn't bad if you're getting a lot of stuff for it. I used Tommy's Tunes and thay were gonna charge a fortune for the dj giveaways...so I asked if I could buy my own stuff- they said no problem as long as I unwrapped everyhting from the plastic and blew it up myself. I ended up spending almost $250 but I was able to get A LOT of stuff for that!! More than triple what they would've given me, if not more!!!! I used Oriental Trading and Rhode Island Novelty. Some of the things I can remember having were: 1 dozen blow microphones (so much fun) 2 dozen blow up guitars 2 dozen sunglasses 1 dozen black gangsta hats 1 dozen red/white/blue hats (married on 4th of July) 2 dozen leis 3 dozen mardi gras beads 2 dozen marracas 1 dozen tambarines Bobble star head bands 1 dozen pom pom thingies
The kids loved it and it def gets people out there dancing. Wayching my video with all the drunk adults playing the blow up guitars was priceless!
