I need a DJ desperately, wedding is in Oct '06 and I haven't booked anything except photography/video and reception hall. :( Am I behind?
Anyway, I've heard great things about High Voltage and FM Entertainment but I'm wondering why they are so cheap? For those who have gone to them or used them, do you feel quality is compromised?
FH and I just want someone to play the music, do mc and get the party moving. We don't need too much frill.
Please help! Need an inepensive but good DJ/MC. Thanks!

Re: DJ Help
I don't know anything about those dj's you mentioned... the Dj we chose is pricey... but another we were thinking of booking was Bravura.. they were the cheapest we saw... I think it was like $1600 for dj/mc. They are located in Woodbury.

I highly recommend Vinny at High Voltage. He was pretty inexpensive and he does great work! I think his prices are what they are b/c he loves what he does.... He's great b/c he doesnt pressure you to get what you don't need - HTH!

Re: DJ Help
I booked High Voltage and I could not be happier with my decision. Vinny has excellent prices. I don't know why, and I am certainly not going to question it! All I know is that he is fabulous and I am almost 100% positive that he is going to be amazing! I have no doubt that FH and I made the right decision booking him. Wait until you meet with him and you will know instantly that he is the one you want for your wedding.
Good Luck!

Re: DJ Help
I HIGHLY recommend Vinny from High Voltage also....He is awesome!!! He was great at our wedding and kept everyone on the dance floor the whole reception...His prices are so low because his office is at his house so he doesn't have the overhead of renting so he doesn't have to over- charge his clients like alot of companies do....He is a great guy that we still keep in touch with even though our wedding was 2 1/2 months ago!!! Just remember that because some companies are more expensive does not mean they are better!! good luck!!

Ditto on Vinny! He's reasonably priced, great to work with, and is an excellent DJ. He did a party at my house over the summer and did a fantastic job. Everyone commented on how great he was. I can't wait until he does my wedding in June !!!

Re: DJ Help
I also hear nothing but great things from Then 'Til Now... that's why we booked him! Steve is the owner's name (and our MC). He does a LOT of Riviera weddings, and I only hear positive feedback! He's VERY reasonable, too. I was going to do a band, but I wanted the 'real songs'. He had the 'feel' of a band as a DJ. I really don't like night club sounding DJ's who 'overmix', so I passed on Bravura. I think Steve at 'Then Til Now' is excellent... check him out!
I have elite sound entertainment he is very reasonable and he is from jersey so you don't have to pay NY tax :O)
he did our e-party and it was great
fm me for more details

Re: DJ Help
Hi thanks for everyone's input. Does anyone know if you need to add tips and tax to a DJ cost?
And how does one select a good DJ? Do you just go watch the sample dvds of past weddings?

Re: DJ Help
Absolute Entertainment!!!! They are awesome...they were at my cousins wedding two and a half years ago, and I STILL remember them! So I booked them as soon as I could. They will do whatever you want, great prices...and quality is not sacrificed at all! I go to the Meadow Club Expo's to watch them for fun now, because it gets me sooooo excited about my wedding.
