Hi. I'm having a hard time making a decision on a DJ. I'd love to hear not only who you selected, but WHY and how they are different from the other DJs you considered. Also, if there is a specific MC & DJ that you recommend.
I'm currently looking at LI Sound, Tommy's Tunes and DanceJock. Phil from After Hours is not available on my wedding date. I'm open to others as well.
Thanks for any and all thoughts.

Re: DJ help
I booked LI SOUND because their energy was amazing...when I saw Tommy Tunes on their showcase I was less than impressed,,and I just saw them at a wedding this summer and all of my friends said they weren't as good as we had all expected. They played a lot of continuous techno and popular songs changed into techno versions which I wasn't a fan of. Also ,Tommy himself really didn't do much talking. I thought he was just ok.

Re: DJ help
To honor FHs west indian heritage we booked with sound connection, as we felt they were very well versed in cultural music. We booked with the world dj there, his name is derek and the owner Raphael will be the mc!!!! Both of them are amazing people, they have been so accommodating and on point. Mostly all the other djs that we saw asked FH to make them a cd with the trini songs he wanted them to play, but sound connection actually new the music and already had it in their library!!!!! I don't know if it is important to you to honor ur cultures, but it was to fh and that is why we booked with them.

Re: DJ help
We are using Marc Bauman Entertainment. He is a friend of ours and has everything we could ever want. He has the zap photos, gobo light, uplighting, Tv's..etc. He is just a wonderful DJ that really caters to your needs.

Re: DJ help
I'm using Dynamic entertainment for my Dj and MC. I've heard them at other weddings and people didn't get off the dance floor.
I can't wait to hear them again! Plus they have awesome lights and set up!

Re: DJ help
I booked with Danny at Variety Dj. Since we are the same date he's already booked, but the owner of Variety DJ is great and they have a few other dj's including a bilingual dj that we considered. We booked with them because they seemed familar with different types of music we wanted played. My FH is colombian so we wanted spanish music, music for older people and then the music that we love!

Re: DJ help
we went with Bravura because they were professional, never nickel and dime us and they are experienced with different types of music. We were looking for a DJ that would play some west Indian music.

Re: DJ help
I used Gary Hoffman because we didn't want the cookie cutter DJ who yells at the guests to get up, has someone out on the dance floor, uses props, and doesn't know how to mix. Gary use to be a NYC night club dj and he knows how to mix, pick the right music to get everyone out on the dance floor, and he is not a distraction. He only spoke to introduce us and the BP and the special dances like mother/son and our cake cutting....he was amazing!

Re: DJ help
We booked with LI Sound. Chris was our MC. We knew he'd do a great job because we saw him at 2 of our friend's weddings. So we booked them immediately. We did check out Tommy's Tunes at a bridal showcase at the Watermill, but were not very impressed.

Re: DJ help
I never met with LI Sound so no comments on them...except I think they have pretty good reviews.
I honestly do not like Tommy's Tunes. I've seen them at 3 weddings plus the showcase at my hall (they are a preferred vendor there). There's something about them that just bothers me every time I see them. The MCs are kinda cheesy & I haven't liked the music either...JMO. But a lot of girls love them so I guess it just depends on your preference.
We used DanceJock & they were great to work with. One thing I was disappointed with was that they didn't play the song I wanted for our recessional...I'm not sure why. I remember Scott coming up to me & asking if I noticed he changed it & I said yes...but I don't remember his reasoning...I was too busy enjoying the wedding lol. They have a lot of great live musicians--we used the calypso band for CH & the Rich, a singer who is a dead ringer for Frank Sinatra. We did the Video Disc Jockey option with 3 plasmas, Zap Shots, Super Deluxe Lighting, & they did our uplighting which looked sickkk. They did a great job mixing the music & everyone really liked them. Scott is not a cheesy MC at all...they WILL NOT DO any crowd participation songs (i.e. electric slide, cupid shuffle, etc.)...lol that was the first thing Scott told us when we met with him and we were like, perfect! We don't want any of that.
Definitely meet with Scott. I think he gave us a good deal & he's a real cool guy. He takes time to meet with you & understand what type of party you want. I think we were there for almost 2 hours the first time we met with him, just BSing.
eta: We also met with Frank at FM Entertainment & he was nice & has really good reviews...I just had a better feeling with DanceJock.

Re: DJ help
We booked Tommy's Tunes. We didn't look at any others, but my sister used Body Rock, which was good also. I felt comfortable meeting with Dan and I've heard of others using TT also, so we went with them . Decent price too!

Re: DJ help
We are using Phil from After Hours, so I'm not really any help here. But what I can say was LI Sound was the most expensive we met with, but their work seemed pretty good. Alot of girls on here rave about Bravura so I would check them out as well. Good luck!

We're booked with Tommy's Tunes. We have seen them at a few showcases and love them. Our experiences with them so far have been great. We only looked at one other small DJ company before we booked with Tommy's.
