Hey, so we are looking into DJ's now and we could use some helps choosing one. So far we have seen SGE (a bit pricey) Tommy Tunes and Body Rock.
what we are looking for is a DJ/MC combo with the intelligent lights, plasmas, photo montage, etc....NO percussionists.
For the hour and a half or so after dinner we really want a club atmosphere. House, dance, hip hop, etc....NO scratching or anything but really want the songs to be mixed well and flow evenly. Does anyone have any recommendations on who they chose? We know that just about any DJ will be able to handle the introductions and 70's 80's music and stuff...
BUT after dinner.....better be party time. We have an excellent dancing crowd and would like to be pumping!
We saw Tommy Tunes showcase at the Watermill and while they were very professional, they just seemed a bit old fashioned.
What do you guys suggest?

Re: DJ Help/Advice please
Level DJ's...not only is Joey (the owner) around my age (30) but he also use to be the DJ for KTU. I've known him personally for YEARS...he's awesome! I've used him for proms (I'm the senior class advisor at the HS where I teach) and even used him in college when we planned parties.
He's such a sweetheart to work with too. He came to our house, sat with us, answered all of our questions...he was awesome!
Definitely check him out if you want a 'club' like setting! If you tell him what to play, he'll play it as long as it isn't line dances or anything cheesy...he said he has a rep to live up to!

LI Sound!!!! Fh and I went to their showcase last night at their Bohemia facility and when we walked in the room they had set up I felt like I was in Miami.
They had a little lounge area set up with white couches(this is extra of course)and with their lighting packing everything was blue and I automatically felt like I was in an upscale club.
Mike will be our MC and he's all for freestyle & house music which is right up my alley.
We met w/ Tommy Tunes and I said the same thing about them. They were REALLY nice I just thought they weren't for me.

I just met with LI sound this afternoon and they seem like they can definitely deliver that club style atmosphere that you want for after dinner. You should check them out! I like them because they really seem to listen to what you want for YOUR wedding. They offer a TON of options.

Also, I see your getting married at NHP Inn, check LI Sound's website because they are doing a showcase at your rh soon.
I don't know if they'll be performing but you can talk to them @ the showcase.

we booked 800bighits, Gerry was great and he can do all the things that you listed, and asks you for lists of songs you want played so I think he could help you out with the club atmosphere that you are looking for....

Re: DJ Help/Advice please
I had the same same problem.....
Im hiring a private club DJ - but i want scratching etc....
Do you like techno?? If so i think youre good!! i dont, which is why i had to kind of stray from the best DJ companies like you picked. Just call them and be very specific the vibe u want!! Then feel them out most girls just hire a dj and dont say what they want.

Really? They must have had a bad show then because when I went to their showcase/performance, they were amazing! They had everyone dancing and it wasn't old fashioned at all. They didn't have house music/techno/or anything like that though. Maybe that's why? They also can customize the package to meet your needs.

We're using Party Connection
we got an awesome package with A LOT!! FM if you need more info
Yes we are going to the showcase at the inn next week but from what I understand they are only having bands showcase. We have an appt with Variety on monday night and LI sounds on Tuesday night.
Thought about a private DJ but we would really like to book someone that is well known and isn't new to weddings.
Thanks so much everyone!

Hi!!!! I'm so excited to reply to this post. We just booked our DJ. We went with After Hours and we love them. We were thinking about going with Body Rock but we are VERY pleased with our decision. I know people who have loved Tommy Tunes and suggested them to us, reliable-similar taste in music people.
What you can do is check out their youtube page. We watched tons of their videos. I'd strongly recommend that you watch a few of them. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlsDzK3jvY4
Please message me if for some reason it isn't visible.
They were very affordable but we didn't get uplighting or plasmas bc our rooms already has those things included.
Good Luck!

I booked After Hours too! The price was the best we were quoted and on top of that they were our favorites. I love Phil. He's going to be our MC.
