Hey Gals! So I already booked After Hours 2 man DJ/MC team for next summer. I am on the debate if an MC is really necessary?? What does the MC do? I don't really need anyone 'pulling' my friends and family on the dance floor or talking the whole night. I just need good flowing music, us to be annouced as well as a few dances being annouced. Are all of you using an MC?? Why or why not?! Help!

DJ / MC Question?
I've posted this response a few times but I am NOT having an MC although we haven't booked our DJ yet! I don't like when they try to make people dance, I don't like hearing 'now somebody screammmmm' the DJ is the one to keep the music flowing and can also do the very few announcements that are there!

DJ / MC Question?
It's all personal preference. Originally to keep costs down, we weren't going to have an MC. But when it came down to it, with my company it was only a differance of like $250..so we went for it. Most professionals will of course be able to handle the DJ aspect and make the announcements. But I do like the idea of just having that 2nd person there 'just in case' . Now if it wasn't such a small price difference for me though, I probably would have just sticked with one.
We're using Phil from after hours as the one man dj/mc. I feel like his energy alone is suffice.

DJ / MC Question?
Our DJ package included our MC- I personally love the idea of an MC, although some companies are really obnoxious about it. I am using Bravura, and you pick an 'energy level' of your MC. Level 1 is really quiet and just makes the important announcements, level 2 is more engaging and dancing, and level 3 is just ridiculous lol... So we are doing level 2 for like the wedding entrace and stuff just to get everyone excited when we all come in, and then mostly between a 1 or 2. Towards like 10:30/11 when the grandparents and stuff start leaving, we may bring it up to a level 3 for the younger crowd :)
It is good to have the MC though because you want someone to direct everyone's attention for the cake cutting, first dance, bouquet toss, etc. and it's hard for the DJ to do both things at once, especially if you DJ mixes his own stuff too

Re: DJ / MC Question?
I have one person but I am also having a wedding of less than 100 people. If your having a larger wedding, the company might require two people. Since you already have a contract I am not sure if they will renegotiate for 1 person.
