what if people are going up there requesting songs..would i be rude to say..no requests..but only to the dj

have him say ok..ill try to get to it to whoever is requesting a song

but i dont want certain types of music played and im nervous about this aspect

i think it's fine if you don't want to take requests but even if you choose to, your dj should be experienced enough to not play the song if he doesnt think it fits in. Or he could ask you if hes not sure. I dont think its bridezilla!

I don't think that's wrong at all. I mean, if you give a 'do not play' list, and your guests are requesting those songs, you are screwed and are stuck listening to obnoxious songs! It's your day, go for what you want girl!

make a do not play list so even if someone requests it then it wont get played

I'm going to play the devil's advocate here.

I had this problem with my mother when I was talking to her about the kind of music that I wanted to play and she made a really good point about music selection ....one that I would not have thought of......

Even though it's YOUR day and you have every right to do what you want with your music etc.....you still have to be mindful that your guests will have a good time by compromising and playing things that you may not like as well as the things you do like. Unless all of your guests have your specific musical taste, I would allow requests to be made.

But again...it's just my opinion and in the end you can do what you want but I thought I might pass along that advice.

I agree, i would do a do not play list for songs you absolutely hate but dont say no to all requests. I mean its your day but if your guests don't like the music and don't dance then its gonna ruin your day actually. I let my guests make requests and did it for them infact at the e-party, some i was a little eh about but didnt hate it, but they ended up being hits and everyone got up to dance

We're not allowing requests AT ALL. That's all I need is drunks requesting awful music.

And our granny's do not need to hear 50 cent or anythign like that!!!!

I would make a do not play list. If someone requests a song, you can have the DJ ask you first to approve or disapprove. Or you can just implement a 'no request' rule, which is totally fine. I am only having the DJ play songs previously approved by me. Now im the bridezilla, lol

My DJ said people feel that they have the DJ at their disposal for requests.

I would ask the DJ to tell the requesters that he will 'try' to play their song, but he has a playlist he has to get to. My friend just gave her DJ the 'no rap' rule.

Whatever you do- give the DJ some kind of direction. My sister didn't give any direction and half of HER playlist was not played because of people requesting songs. Not only that, one of her bridesmaids was requesting dedications to her boyfriend so they can have a special dance together. Way to steal the spotlight girly! My sister didn't approve that, but the DJ did it anyway. (maybe he was just a bad DJ...lol)

We refer to her as the bridesmaid-zilla b/c she was causing problems left and right...whole different topic.

I agree!! I don't want JUST my friends or JUST my family up dancing. I want everyone!! I have a band tho, and they keep the house rocking!
