Dj or Band

I want a Dj, but my dad says a band is better. It is also much more expensive? what are you guys doing?

depends what you want! do what makes you happy for me I wanted a band and FI was set on a DJ. But after some prices we got for DJs they really werent sooo much less! Then he heard the band my dad found and b4 i was able to say i loved them......he told my dad book them NOW! so we are doin a band!

remember its your day....go to a few showcases for both and maybe you will have a change of heart!

DJ all the way !! I am so hesitant with bands. And I believe they would be more $. If you are looking for a great DJ company to work with, try Bravura (bravuraentertainment.com)

A lot of parents want their kids to have a band, but #1) very expensive and #2) its not exactly what we're used to hearing like on the radio. Its completely up to you. My parents thought we'd have a band too, along with my in-laws but both FI and me thought differently. Good luck!

FH and I would have preferred a band but we really could not find any we really really loved. So we went with a DJ that we love.

We're using a DJ. But we added a live percussionist so you still hear live music. best of both worlds. We're also having live music at the cocktail hour.

It really depends on what you want. Dj's you will be guaranteed to hear the song as it always sounds... but not every Dj is good. Bands could be awesome.. but it really depends on the musicians you get and if they are good & they don't have an indefinite list of songs they can sing.. you generally have to pick what they have ... they may try to learn a few songs for you. And of course... dj's are much cheaper than bands.

I personally didnt want a dj, imo a dj reminds me of club days , which are long gone, to me again imo a band is a lil more elegant & older , to which i am , old,,LOL

I agree, it is not what we are use to hearing on the radio. A few years ago before my whole engagement, I thought for sure we would be having a band, but then with all the weddings I have been to I feel I had the best time when a DJ was playing.

We are going with a DJ but (for when dinner is being served) and whenever we want, we also have a singer for the 'older' crowd. She sounds amazing. It's like a DJ & band all in one!

I always wanted a band..live music just energizes the whole affair.

I felt that I could hear a DJ anytime, but this was my wedding. I wanted live music.

You can go to some showcases and hear some great bands and make up your mind.

I think it's no so much that you have to hear the song exactly like the recording as much as when the crowd is enjoying it and up dancing. That's what makes the party.

I like a DJ, but I went to a wedding where the band was fantastic!!!!! My only reservation with a band is if they have an off night or someone gets sick.
But definetly check out the showcases they have.
