DJ Playlist question...

Hi ladies!
I'm finalizing my DJ playlist. Just wondering... how detailed was your list? I have some must play aritsts and song and DO NOT play as well. But I'm also paying them to do a job so i'm trusting that they're good enough to know the crowd, etc etc. I'm not supposed to list every-single-song I want played right?

We tried to do that and then it was just TOO much work ... so we just listed some of our favorite songs that we wanted and said in 'we trust you' lol

Ours is very detailed. It has a must playlist by genre like 60's, 70's 80's etc.. And the do not playlist just includes genres of music we do not want to hear like reggae, house etc..

My FH is a musician and was in no way gonna have pay for a DJ to be fully in charge of the music he knows the guest want to hear. And when we hired our DJ we specified to him that we would be doing this and he was totally fine with it because it made his job alot easier if he knew what to play and what not to play.

So if you have the time to do it, go for it. At least you won't have to go to the DJ and ask him to change a bad song he's playing at the wedding.

We filled out the packet he gave us- he asked for favorite songs, favorite artists, and do not play artists..along with which genres we're into- 90s, 80s, swing, classic rock, etc, and what radio stations we listen to.
He can make his own play list from our favorite artists, but we did include a long-ish list of our favorite songs. If you want it played, tell 'em!!!

We gave mostly genres that we like and don't like. Also made a list of must plays and must not play, maybe with like 10 songs on each
