I just scheduled a meeting with the dj we want to use on Thursday night with DH. (I should say DH finally scheduled it - I have been nagging him for weeks and it is the ONLY thing I have asked him to do for the wedding but whatev.)
Can you all tell me what a reasonable price is for a dj or what you are paying and what you are getting for that price. I have absolutely no idea what is a fair price for what.

We are paying around $1900 for
DJ&MC for 4 hours All white sound system Lighted DJ booth Top lighting package - the 'intelligent' lights on 4 lighted towers. 4 'Color splash' LED uplights for behind the dais.
The same exact package (only difference was it came with a dedicated lighting tech, and no uplighting) was $900 more at another vendor.

We're using FM Entertainment. They don't have a fancy facility like LI sound does. We were actually a little turned off when we first went to be honest, but working with Frank has been great, a really personal experience, and he works within our budget. I felt like the other more expensive DJs were always trying to sell me something.

Our is $3K 5 hours music at reception 1.5 hours at cocktail hour DJ & MC Percussionist Two towers with intelligent lighting Name in lights or whatever it's called

Thanks! I know - BELIEVE ME - I know.
It's funny, because we were just setting out to have a little party after the fact and it is turning into a full blown reception.
When I was calling places to book a site in May every hall regarded me as an insane person. They couldnt believe I was looking for a date in June or July of '11! But I wound up finding one that I loved and we got a SICK deal because it is only a few weeks out. It will be fine but I also dont have the advantage of a year of research - that is where this site is proving invaluable! I can ask people questions about pricing and whatnot. It is super helpful! Thanks girls!
