DJ Questioin

Just curious as to how much a DJ costs. I know it's different for each one, but even a range woud help. Just one person, no MC...thanks ladies.

I´ve gotten quotes starting from $495 and up. Personally I need to try to keep it at $800 max. If price is a concern there is a post for tight budget djs. So far the ones I like the most (just from email/phone contact) are Tommy Tunes and Eventrix. Eventrix Andrew is awesome in my contact with him so far.

I just bumped the Official Tight Budget DJ thread for you.

Ours is $1700 for the basic package including a DJ and MC and basic lighting, but you can always take out what you don't need. We're using Body Rock.

My DJ was a little more expensive (almost $3,000), but we added a lot of extras- singer, uplighting, monogram, 2 man crew...

I was given base package prices (5 hours, 1 DJ/MC, basic light show) for $1,500 & change.

We looked at Tommy's Tunes & 4 Star Entertainment

I'm seeing a DJ tonight who charges $1250 for ceremony/ch/reception - he doesn't do it by hours, just the entire event. Single person who does both DJ and MC. No lighting or extras.

When you ladies say 'basic lighting' what is that?

If you're not looking for any extras, you should be able to get a DJ/MC for $900-1100 for 5 hours.

well...I'm a little irritated because the dj we have been in touch with, who is a family friend, and I thought was giving us a deal, is giving us one person, 5hours, but the cocktail hour (really an hour and a half - part of the 5 hours) is through a sound system that the Royalton provides...and we are being quoted over 1,400. Doesn't this seem a bit high? I don't even know how to approach the situation.
