Did anyone use their DJ for music for the cocktail hour and ceremony as well as reception? I never thought about it before this weekend! apprently I thought the music for these things is magical and takes care of itself How much does this usually add-on to the 4 hour basic dj price? I've gotten some quotes but they were all for 4 hours..just curious what the norm is..thanks!

Re: DJ Question
That's what we're doing with LI Sound. We got a 4 hour package for the reception and then added the CH for $150 and the ceremony for $100.

Re: DJ Question
We decided against cocktail music. Our location was outside next to the Bronx river so we let nature do that job for us.
I know that High Voltage does offer this at a great price. I used Vinny for our reception and highly reccomend him.

Re: DJ Question
I'm using Tommy's Tunes for 5 1/2 hours versus 4 hours (so that includes ceremony and cocktail hour) it went from $1795- $2,095. So $300 is the difference, aren't I a math genius?!

Re: DJ Question
Check with your hall. Sometimes they can just put a few cds in their stereo (on shuffle)and pipe it into the cocktail hour.
It can save you some $.
Especially since you can't usually hear the music with all the talking during the cocktail hour anyway.

Re: DJ Question
Our DJ said we could have them play for the hour for 150 or get a jazz trio. We got the trio.

Yay! We're using LI Sound also! Did you meet with Chris? I really liked him. Anyway, we're not sure what we're going to do yet but he can either CH music for the $150 or if we want a piano or keyboard player I believe that's around $300 for the CH.

Re: DJ Question
I'm doing this with Vinny from High Voltage. Already have ceremony music picked out, and I think cocktail hour is preprepared. He did a birthday party for me in August and was amazing. He's reasonable and I highly reommend him.
Here's a place you can save thousands, and I actually prefer a DJ so you get the real music, not an interpretation of it.

Re: DJ Question
I already have my cocktail hour person booked, but how would it work if I wanted the dj to work the ceremony too besides the reception? Would I have to pay for the hour in between of doing nothing? TIA!

Hmm, that I'm not sure about. Call the people you've already spoken to and ask them. I don't think the DJ we're using is charging hourly but you should check it out just in case.

Re: DJ Question
I'm using my DJ (Vinny from High Voltage) for both CH and ceremony. His list price is $150 for CH and $100 for ceremony. Now all I have to do is figure out what music I want for the ceremony and I'll be set.

Re: DJ Question
My Dj is Bravo sounds and they threw in cocktail hour for free. Otherwise we were going to just have the hall play general backround music-people don't really notice it anyway unless it's live music and that gets $$! about 100-150 may be a fair price tho.

Re: DJ Question
We are having a Roaming Sax During our Cocktail Hr. Sax playing jazz walking around the room. Manny from Fusion DL included it in our package, normally they charge $250. Something different, they are awesome and vendors on here!

We are also using Ray from Variety Music and adding the cocktail hour and ceremony only cost us about $100 more. And they threw in some extras. He is very affordable, so nice and extremely flexible.
