I was wondering how wedding DJ's work. We have specific music that FH and I would like to hear and its definitely not typical wedding music. Im talking about music ranging from classic rock to hip hop to reggaeton. Do you give them a list and they get all the music or do you provide the music for them??

Re: DJ Question
Usually you give your dj a MUST PLAY list. they go over it. If they're an awsome company they will let you know what they have, and what they don't have. Most will get it for you, some you'll have to give it to. It all depends on the company you go with.
Also, most dj companies don't only do weddings so they have a large range of music for block parties and sweet 16's and proms and stuff.
Bravura is the only 'Weddings Only' dj i've met with

Re: DJ Question
have you booked a dj yet? i'm guessing not. talk to a few companies. Tell them exactly what you are looking to have at your first meeting. They will tell you straight up if they have that or not. Ask them what happens if they can't get a song you want.
reggaeton and salsa are both very popular music genres. i see no reason why a dj wouldnt have enough to appease you. they may not have specific songs but you can work around that. Body Rock has done a lot of sweet 16s and bat/bar mitzvahs i've been too lately as well as weddings people i know have been too. we didnt book them, but it seems they may be a good choice for you and worth checking out.

You give them a 'play' and 'don't play' list. If it's a DJ company that is up on times, they'll have anything you ask for..if not, close to it.

don't worry dj's have to play reggaeton and salsa at many weddings, its not a strange request...you give them a list and whatever they don't have they'll get

Re: DJ Question
Our DJ gave us a packet that has sheets on it to pick our must play and our absolutely do not play unless you want me to kick you lists and they also ask if there is any type of music you want played more then others or any you dont want played at all !!!

Re: DJ Question
Just do a search on DJ's. There is a thread running around somewhere with the s[pecific questions to ask DJ's. I'm just not sure where offhand (Probably the BHB section).
That was a BIG help when we started looking.
As everyone else said they shouldn't have a problem playing exacly what you want as long as you tell them ahead of time.

Re: DJ Question
mostly everything is done by computer, so any song they don't have they'll get.
I requested slipknot and i don't think that is something they regularly play, but for the e-party he got it

Re: DJ Question
You give them a list of what you want played and what you dont want played and they will honor your requests

Re: DJ Question
Like others said, you would give them a play list. I few DJs i spoke to said they actually bring laptops to the RH and since most RH have wi-fi, they can download anything you want on the spot! I though that was pretty cool. But, they will probably have it already downloaded if its on your play list.
