DJ Questions..

Ok, I'm ready to start looking for a DJ. All we really need is one person to serve as the DJ and MC, and music for 5 or 6 hours (we have the Vienesse hour). We want a basic package. So my questions are..

1. What's a reasonable price for a basic package? $1000 or so? I just want to make sure I know my stuff so I don't get completely ripped off.

2. Who are the best DJ's? My RH recommended EJ the DJ, Hart to Hart and NYU Entertainment. I can honestly say that I don't see too many mention of these djs on liweddings. It seems that most girls tend to use Tommy Tunes or FM Entertainment.

3. What are these plasma screens I'm reading about? Is that when they show the baby pictures? I thought that falls under videographer.

Thanks alot.

Re: DJ Questions..

We really liked Eddic from Unlimited Entertainment and After Hours (I forget his name). We booked with Eddie but they both had very reasonable prices, less that 1500.

Plasmas are about 1000 more. You can have one or two. They can do a montage for your first dance with pictures of the couple or montages for the parent dances. You supply the pictures. For the rest of the night they take pictures of the party and show them on the screens. Make sure if you do this that they agree to give you all the picures(they usually do).

If you are looking to save money, go with the recpetion hall vendors so that the DJ meals are free (or discounted).

Re: DJ Questions..

You wont get ripped off, just remember some dj's are more than others. Yes some will be around $1200 lets say but others will be 2k or more, depends on the company. Its just their prices and what they would give to anybody else.

I had 2 plasma's. Its an extra you pay for, and when you get the plasma's they bring in their zap photographer. They can even come to your ceremony and they take pics all night at your reception and they go up on the screens immediately. ALso was used for our photo montage and our videographer used our dj's plasma's to play our same day wedding trailer that he had done. Then about 2 weeks after our wedding they mailed us a disk with all the pics they had taken.

Re: DJ Questions..

I am using High Energy Entertainment...they are a vendor on here, a little less spoken about but every brides review who have used them, they get great reviews. He was very reasonably priced and a really nice guy. FM if you want more information or just give Raplh, the owner a call.

i also had checked out... (fm me if you would like info on any of these as well)

FM entertainment
LI sound
After Hours (who i liked A LOT)
In the Mixx

Plasma screens are for various things but are usually controlled by the dj...yes, for baby pictures, something called zap shots I think, a replay of your ceremony, etc. These are all options which are add ons in most cases.

Re: DJ Questions..

FH & I use Frank from Global Entertainment (a vendor on NYCweddings.com). Their prices are reasonable & they will work within your budget. Also, they do offer plasma screens for the wedding. If you need more info, FM me.
