Re: DJ quote...thoughts
I booked w/ LI Sound last week and got:
1 DJ 1 MC 1 50' plasma screen DVD Photo Montage Live percussionist during reception Keyboardist/pianist for cocktail and an upgraded lights package
We paid $2900 but thats because we won $650.00 credit at a bridal showcase
My wedding is 6 hours total (1 hr cocktail, 5 hours reception)
Our guy that we met with for LI Sound was excellent he really bargained w/ us- probably because I wouldn't give into him! but he was really great. Just stick to your word!

for that price they should do more than 4 hours if you need to.
I paid about that price but along with dj and mc I had percussionist, 2 plasma's, zap photographer, photo montage and lighting. Plus they were there from 7:30pm-1:30am.

I think that sounds like a lot.
I am getting 5 hours, dj, lights for $1250 from High Voltage. I visited After Hours and Long Island Sound, and they both had packages that were similar to what you wanted for less.

i agree with the other girls that it sounds a little pricey
I dont think you're overpaying for what youre getting. I think the drummer and sax guy are adding ALOT of extra money to the cost which is what is making it so high.
basic lights should be included. Every dj that I've gotten prices from so far includes the basic lights. I just got a packet in the mail from 'after hours' and here is what these would cost you
DJ & MC - $1500 (5 and half hours continuous, includes cd for ceremony and cocktail and includes basic light show)
live percussionist or sax player for 4 hours with dj - $550, so $1100 for both
DM and MC price seems high to me as do basic lights. Basic lights should come with the package not cost 300. Ceremony music seems high too, could knock a little off that as well.

ITA. I think you can get DJ/MC for a lot cheaper than that. Also, are you getting married at the Sandcastle or in a church? If it's at a church, they may provide music (mine does).

sounds like a lot to me. i'm paying $500 less and we're getting a little more.
i knwo alot of djs have seperate prices for cocktail hour but you can usually get that thrown in. .especially if you arent doing live music. they can just play a cd, no one hears CH music anyway. and i agree about the lights, sounds like a lot. i would shop around
