DJ recommendations

Original post by Madorie

I'm trying to find a DJ now.

I grew up listening to Motown, the J-Five, Kool & the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire - so that's my favorite type of music from the 70s/80s. -I hate disco.

FH and I like Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and jam bands but only a few of our friends are into that kind of music. So we need some hip-hop thrown into the mix too but nothing 'heavy' - for lack of a better word, and some of the Top 40 stuff.

Basically, we're having a very diverse crowd so I'm looking for someone is REALLY good at playing some of everything but none of the cheesy wedding music. I know the cheesy music is fun sometimes but that's not really the crowd we're going to have.

any suggestions?

we booked with tommy tunes. We were very impressed. I've heard a lot of great things about them on here too

Frank from FM Entertainment is amazing. Check out my review on him. One of my favorite vendors by far.

I second Frank from FM. We were so impressed with him, we booked right away. Definitely check them out, he gives you a free private showcase so you can get an idea of what he does.

We used Spin Around Sound and they were fantastic!! That's exactly what I wanted to - a WIDE variety and nothing cheesy or 'typical wedding music'.

They totally came through and everybody commented on how great it was. Hell, they even played Freebird for me!!
