DJ that can play Portuguese music (on a budget!)
Hey ladies (and gents...if any), I'm new to LIW.
My fiancé and I are DJ shopping. Our budget is more or less 1500$ for DJ, lighting that is a bit more than a basic twirling ball, cocktail hour and overtime 1 hour. I'm Portuguese and he's Portuguese /Ecuadorian. We don't really care about a DJ that can speak the languages, but someone who is familiar or has played Portuguese music at a wedding. (The Spanish part won't be a problem I think). Oh, and fiancé also insists on an MC and DJ, I don't think an additional MC is necessary...my friends and family are party people, no need to be motivated to dance!
Here are the ones we met:
1. Bravura seemed perfect, great portuguese and spanish repertoire but way too $$$.
2. LI Sound had great reviews but they were trying to 'sell' a bit more than we needed, also $$$.
3. After Hours had good prices and reviews but only for MC Phil, whom we met and loved...but won't be available...
4. High Voltage seemed to have the best prices and Vinny was super nice, sincere and easy-going
5. In the Mix was probably the best in terms of portuguese music experience and good prices but my fiance wasn't too impressed with them.
6. FM Entertainment also has good prices and good reviews on Frank and Paulie...but frank insisted on DJ and MC package...anyone used them with DJ alone?
7. Body Rock...my fiancé will visit them tomorrow.
So, I want to hear from people who have either used them or seen them in action. Thank you!
