i see that most people on this site have gone with DJ's over bands. is it just a price thing?? FH and i really HATE DJ's all together so when the time comes (after we book a hall lol) we are going to have to look for a cheap band that sounds good. any suggestions?

yeah i think its more the MC that we dislike. the annoying guy that embarasses you if your not dancing. thanks to all of your advice ill prob look into every one that was recommended, as well as the dj that just plays music lol! thanks!!
while we are on the topic... FH loves reggae so i was thinking of surprising him by having a reggae band or singer or something like that at some point (CH maybe??). any ideas for that?

I happen to love DJ's and would never have a band. I feel the music never sounds the same with a band. JMO
If I had no other choice but to go with a band I would go with The Projekt. 2 weddings I went to used them and they were good for a band.
I just feel like the crowd dosent dance as much with a band.

It's a personal preference. I prefer live music over a dj for weddings, which is why we had a band, and our dance floor was packed all night long.

You should check out 'Spin Around Sound' - know the name sounds very dj'ish but they are not into cheese... unless you want it.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. You really have to go with your gut on this. It's very personal. I love how live music energizes things and I felt that I could hear a DJ anywhere and it would sound exactly the same as anywhere, but when we were planning the wedding, we were set on spending the money and having that one time when we had a band play just for us.
We had Niteflight and they were awesome. Their musicians are so talented. We saw so many bands before making our decision but we just knew they were for us. I have referred them to so many people and the best part was getting to go to my friends weddings and hear them again.
They were also really reasonable since they don't use a booking agent.
They play some clubs too and we still go see them sometimes.
They were able to provide our ceremony and cocktail music and were very easy to work with. It was probably the one vendor I didn't have to worry about. I had a lot of must plays and some absolutely must not plays..they honored every request. I was probably the biggest pain in the a$$..![]()
