Re: dj with mc or no mc??
if you hire a good professional dj, you shouldnt need an mc. They should be able to take care of both jobs at one time. We hired Variety Music and the owner Ray is going to MC and DJ.

We hired Variety Music too and we were so excited we decided to add an MC. We couldn't have imagined the day without our MC. We loved him! It was worth the $300. Although, I'm sure the DJ would have been great without him.

We hired a dj with an mc. I love my mc. I feel that he really adds an element to the whole day making it fun and young. I stressed that I don't want him to be in my guests face or too corny. It all depends on who you hire and how much they are willing to work with you and give you exactly what you want.

I am shocked to hear thi. When we went to book with variety, Leslie actually talked us out of the added MC- which we were considering. She assured us that Ray was all that we needed for a great reception. We didnt think we should spend the extra money if the company was talking us out of it.

I heard Ray was amazing. I'm sure it'll be all good. I was ready to go with just a DJ, but my DH wanted an MC. What really helped me is that I had a medical issue during the reception, as we were finished cutting the cake. The MC helped deter any of my guests away from me and to him. As I have been talking to peole, no one knew what happened to me. For that, I am grateful.

Re: dj with mc or no mc??
any good DJ or bandleader should double as the MC. The leader of my band is both playing in the band and serving as an MC (annoucning the bridal party, taking requests, basically keeping the night moving). I didn't realize you could actually hire an MC... i thought it was one in the same.

Re: dj with mc or no mc??
I think we're going with just the DJ. FH an I think our DJ will do a great job alone. But I guess it also depends on your guests. I was told that MCs are usually good if your party needs the extra push towards the dance floor.

Re: dj with mc or no mc??
I didn't want in 'in-your-face' MC... but I did want one to do the introductions and, in a classy way, keep the party going and get people dancing. I think we found exactly what we wanted. Check on Steve from 'Then 'Til Now'. Such a nice guy... down to earth... NOT obnoxious at all. And my friend has been to 3 weddings he's done, and she raves about him each time

Re: dj with mc or no mc??
I booked Vinny from High Voltage without an mc. When I asked him if we should have one he asked me a question - 'do you have one friend, sister, cousin, whatever who will get up and start dancing? Usually everyone has that one person and if you do you don't need an mc.' Funny enough - I am usually that person!I expressed to him I had a pretty lively crowd but was a little nervous that I would regret not having one. He said if things ever slowed down he would get out from behind his booth and do a little mc'ing as needed.
I felt better about this. I also don't intend on doing any special group dances like the slide and what not - so I am pretty satisfied with not getting one.
Just my own dealings....

We hired Vinny from High Voltage Sounds. We discussed having an MC and he said it was totally not necessary. He is doing all the announcements for us.
