DJ with percussionist??

Has anyone used a DJ with a percussionist?? Does it sound good?

it sounds awesome - we went to a wedding that used Long Island Sound with a percussionist, and we loved it so much that we booked them for our wedding.

Both of my MOH brothers did this and she loved it. It works very well with Spanish music. I imagine that it adds more than the video screens if you have to choose (I can't do either!). They went with Bravo and it was a great party from what I hear...I hope they are good- they are my DJs!

I'm having the DJ with percussionist...but Have been second guessing my decision. I just went to a wedding a found it a little annoying. I felt like the percussionist does not sound to good with Sweet Caroline and brown eyed girl...but Sounds great with club music. So I'm still up in the air.

Maybe you can ask them to only drum on the songs it sounds good with? I agree that it might sound strange- one reason I wasn't gung-ho for it- besides budget. The only problem I see is that you'd have to pay the same even if they don't drum for all songs....the best people to ask are your DJs!!

We are having that. Our DJ is Bravura. I think it will add a little something more. I am excited about it!

Yes, maybe it's not right for you then. I will not be playing any music like Sweet Caroline or Brown Eyed Girl....I would agree that a percussionist doesn't sound good with traditional wedding music.

Most of the percussionists I have seen with DJs just overplay...to me it's distracting. The music is recorded with everything it should have..

With Spanish music it's PERFECT!! My MOH is from Peru- she loved it at her brother's weddings. I wish we could do it!
