cut the designers tag out of the dress?? I went to a showcase where they did a little fashion show with BM dresses and wedding dresses and they kept saying 'we don't cut the tags out of the dresses like some other bridal shops..'

I would like to know too because he kept saying it over and over again and I was like what in the world! Is it to jack up the price?

That's interesting. I never thought of that. I know they cut the tag out of sample dresses so you have a harder time figuring out the name/style # of the dress so you can't go buy it elsewhere.
However, I don't know if they cut the tags out of the dress if you actually purchase it there. What if you want to resell it after your wedding?

A few do, they cut the tags out so you cant go to another bridal salon and ask for that specific dress so you buy it from them. When you order the dress it comes with the designer tag in it-they dont cut it out.
BE SURE if you get a Maggie that you get your certificate with it!

Ok if thats the case I guess it makes sense, but seems a little drastic! If you want to find the dress I'm sure you could.
I didn't know Maggies came with a certificate another good thing to know!

Yes! Good to know that about the Maggie's. Do you get it in the mail or when you pick the dress up?

WOW useful advice. do many designers 'certify' their dresses with certificates?

You have to check the designers website, it will tell you under the FAQ I did not get mine b/c my bridal salon was a bunch of jerkoffs and when I asked about it they said that if we dont ask they throw them away
There is a part of me that believes my dress may NOT have been a Maggie-tho I know it was...still makes me wonder if that is why I had so many problems with my dress when it came in. Just make sure when it comes in that you ask for it-it comes with the dress

Whatever you do, DO NOT go to Carmela's Bridal on Jericho Tpke in Hunt. Sta. A bride posted on here a while back about how her sister ordered a dress from there - some big designer, I forget who - and when it came in, it was clearly NOT the same dress. All sorts of things were wrong about it, it was made poorly, etc. The owners freaked that she figured it out - they made the dress themselves and charged her full designer price. They started kissing up immediately - not sure if she just got her $$ back or if they 'ordered the dress again' - I don't think they actually said it wasn't the designer dress .... so do not go there!!!!

Re: Do bridal places really.....
Bridals by Roma in NJ did that. It totally turned me off. I would not buy from a salon that did that. Usually, when they do that, their prices are higher. There was a dress at Roma's that I liked a lot. They told me that they 'believed it was Demetrios but couldn't be sure'. That same day, I found it at Macy's, it was a demetrios, and was 700 less than at Roma's!

Re: Do bridal places really.....
i've heard these stories about cutting out tags and refusing to tell you what designer made the dress, and i even get their motivation for doing it, but it's just downright unprofessional and rude. i haven't gone dress shopping yet, but the minute someone pulls that on me when i'm looking at a dress that costs upwards of $1,000, i'm walking right out the door and taking my business to a shop that intends to treat me with the courtesy a paying customer deserves. honestly, with wedding vendors, they needs us more than we need them.
i'm glad to hear that it's the exception rather than the rule.

Some do and some don't - not sure which do but I can tell you where I shopped they didn't cut any tags out so you know who the designer is.
