So FW is going for hair and makeup trials in the very ``near'' future. Mind you that I'm particular and say it like is.
Do I give my honest opinion on what I think or just shut my trap? I'm curious to know what Brides think and what they would want to hear from their FH.

Now, there is a way to give an honest opinion and not hurt the person's feelings and there is a way to out right make the person look back and want to kill you .
I want only honest answers, even though I know my FH sometimes does not because I mean the world to him and he does not want to upset me, but at the same time I am not an idiot

When it comes to things like this, I think honesty is really the best option!
Brides' views can be clouded by excitement! You don't want your FW to look back on her wedding pictures and think, 'What was I thinking? Why didn't anyone tell me I looked like this?'
BE HONEST

i want honesty! but you have to make sure you don't blur the line between honest & downright mean.
Example: Honest Opinion 'Sweetie, I think that maybe the MU artist put too much red on your cheeks, and your eyes don't look as naturally beautiful as I think look best on you. Also, the hair is a litle flat, maybe you should consider a trial with someone else.'
Downright mean: 'Holy crap I couldn't tell if that was you or Ronald McDonald. You look like a freaking clown! Why would you even pay for that? Did you by chance stick your finger in an electrical outlet, cause your hair sure looks that way!'
See the difference?

Definitely agree! I think you should be honest, but gentle. My DH didn't really like my hair, and sort of dropped hints about what he liked, so I changed the style for the day of .

Too funny!
I'd want to hear what FH really thinks about my hair/makeup on our wedding day. After all, I don't want him to think I look scary or ugly!
I was in a wedding 2 weeks ago and we had our hair and makeup done- I asked him what he thought and he was honest- he thought my eye makeup was a little too overdone. And he was right- I thought so, too!
Be honest with her- but be kind!

I personally like brutal honesty. THAT IS JUST ME THOUGH. And yes there is a nice way to be honest and then there is crushing your FW's heart. Just be gentle and tell her the truth.

Re: Do Brides really want an honest opinion?
Well I can obviously only speak for myself....
When I ask for an 'opinion', my FH knows EXACTLY what to say. For example, this morning he said:
'Baby... you are AMAZING! FABULOUS! Your butt looks soo great in those pants and your teeth look really white lately! I can't believe how clear your skin is and your hair... it smells amazing and is so soft, silky and beautiful! Have you lost a little weight - you were perfect before, but I could swear your abs are even better than 10 minutes ago! I think I need to order you some diamonds today - none of your jewelry is nearly as spectacular as you... of course even the most dazzling jewel couldn't compare. I LOVE you!'
All I asked him is if I should have de-caf or regular tea...
My FH is actually very blunt. I don't ask for his opinion unless I absolutely WANT the truth, in which case I say 'Okay honey... what do you really think of these jeans/shirt/cups/condoms/dishtowels/etc..
If I am feeling vulnerable or overly emotional I tell him 'Listen, I am sad and I feel gross. Make me feel better.' and he will.

Re: Do Brides really want an honest opinion?
Be honest, FH saw me when I had my make up trial and he said that he didn't like the lipstick - so when I go back I will ask for a lighter color. I want him to like what i look like on our wedding day. Although I am not going to show him my hair trial.

Re: Do Brides really want an honest opinion?
be honest about this issue with her, and tell her if you like it or dont' like it...my FH was timid for the first trial, and I had to reassure him that I wanted to know the truth cause I didn't want to look ugly the day of my wedding.
just tell her the truth....but also be sensitive, don't tell her she looks ugly or anything...just tell her what would might look better if you don't like a certain aspect. good luck!
