Pretty much everyone in my family has had one and I had decided to get one too, but I switched halls and my hall is already way out of my price range.
I also feel like there is more than enough food since there is already
-a 90 min cocktail hour -salad course and appetizer (which i will prop do as a combo) -pasta course -choice of 8 entrees -dessert (tiramisu, most likely) -cake -viennese trays at every table (fruit and pastries) -cordials and espresso -chocolate fountain
I feel like there is more than enough to keep my guests happy but I have been reading a few reviews of brides who are guest at other weddings saying they were disappointed to have no viennese.
To be honest, I would look for it in the budget, but I also feel it might be a waste since our wedding is on a Sunday night and some people might leave early and miss it anyway.

Re: Do expect a Viennese/Venetian/Whatever hour?
we are not having one and I usually dont expect one when I go to a wedding one way or the other. The reason we decided against it was number one, we are hvaing a ton of food at the wedding. 2nd, I do find that most times people dont stay through the whole vieneese hour anyway,IMO

I definitely dont expect it when I go to a wedding. I am not having one either... We are also having a lot of food and then for dessert I am having the cake, 2 chocolate fountains and then when I pick my menu I'll choose one more dessert. How much food can people really eat?

I feel the Venetian hour is just a nice little added touch but not necessary (esp. if they are going to charge you a crazy amount to have it). The only reason we are having one is because it's included in our package at our RH. If it wasn't and they were going to charge us, we wouldn't be getting it.

I wouldn't even notice...there is sooooooo much food to begin with and so much of the VH desserts go to waste. Wedding cake is more than enough at that point.
Plus after dinner, I'm usually on the dance floor so that would just cut into my good time

Umm, if it is a good VH there is no way you wont notice! Im having one and will probably dance thru it but i dont care. Take home boxes will be provided for stuffed guests! Theres nothing better than a box full of goodies on a hung over day. Plus i need my cordial bar.

We're not having one, and honestly I can't remember the last time I actually went up to get dessert at one. So IMO it won't be missed (plus it sounds like you have plenty of food anyway).

Re: Do expect a Viennese/Venetian/Whatever hour?
some weddings i have been to had it & some have not. the ones that had the venetian hour i hear usually got it thrown in at the end for a $1 per person. or in my cousins case, her FIL wanted it so he paid for it.
we are not having one because our ceremony is at 2PM & currently our reception is ending at midnight. add another hour & it just becomes way to long of a day.

its a nice touch but IMO was not worth the extra $15 pp cost or whatever it was. Our guests are already getting enough dessert between the cake, the dessert the hall provides, and i got a grooms cake for FH as well

Love them but I wouldn't expect one. We're not having one unless they decide to throw it in for us last minute. ::Wink wink nudge nudge:: Rob, if you're reading this!

I don't expect it, but i LOVE IT! Another thing that I really love about it is that it adds another hour to the wedding. We're party animals.

It sounds nice, I've only been to a wedding with a choc. fountain. We were gonna do a V hr. but we figured that the guests would be sooooooo stuffed by then with all the food that it would just be a waste.

If you have fruit and pastries in addition to dessert and chocolate fountain, I don't think Venetian is necessary. I think people will be happy with that. I fyou didn't have that I'd say go for Viennese. I think people just want dessert, lol, it doesn't have to be a full Venetian hour. Don't worry
