My fiance's brother just got engaged. He never got us an engagement gift, just a card in which he wrote, 'Congratulations on your engagement. I pray that all works out for the best'.
He is the Best Man in our wedding. Should I get him an engagement gift? FH wants to get him something! I want to send a card and write the SAME message inside to him!

I think you should. You have to let the past go, plus its your FH's brother. Just be thankful FH is a little more mature than his brother>:)

I say send a card. If FH wants to get him something, I would let him do it on his own, but I wouldn't have it be from you. JMO

I would maybe give her a cute wedding photo album..nothing too big and expensive, along with the card and the same type of words enclosed..

we did get an e-gift for FH's brother. They didnt get us anythign when we were engaged (not even a card) - But i didnt care. He was also our best man. We got them their toasting flutes (the swarovski ones - i wanted them but figured i wouldnt buy them for myself so I might as well give them as a gift).

Sorry but I don't think I could be the bigger person with this one. I would be SO tempted to give him a card with the same NASTY comment inside.
Either that or I'd have to go over the top with a gift - just to prove a point.

I would rise above it and give a gift. These people will be your family soon. Why stoop to that level?
I wouldn't go overboard. A nice picture frame or photo album and a card.

Omg that is great....that would 'quote him' without quoting him... I also think you should get him a small gift.
BTW my younger bro is so immature he said to me the other day 'wait until your FH finds out what a monster you are...then you'll get a divorce' I don't think a brother can get meaner than that. Most boys are CLUELESS and have no common sense

But.. if you do want to get a small gift, what about a bottle of Korbel or something? Even a 1/2 bottle- it's only like $6 bucks and your DH will be happy.
