do i have a right to be annoyed?

i feel like everyone is acting so selfish...

one of my cousins got married in mexico two years ago and i took off a week of work to attend his wedding.

his brother, who lives in italy, is getting married on the west coast in august, 2 months after me.

all i have asked of my relatives is that they attend my wedding and rehearsal dinner.

i am very close with both of these cousins. i was going to ask them to escort my mom down the aisle because she decided she does not want to walk with me and my dad.

this morning i get an email from the cousin who is getting married in august that because he and his fiancee are only going to be in new york for 2 days for my wedding they would prefer to go to dinner in new york city and enjoy a night on the town the night of my rehearsal dinner so they will not be attending, but they will be at my wedding.

i guess i appreciate the fact that he's letting me know in advance and making the trip at all but he himself is in the middle of wedding planning so should know how important it is to attend everything and how stressful of a process this is.

i just think its so selfish of them to skip my rehearsal dinner... they are in town for us and our wedding not for a vacation. they expect us to come to the west coat in august for them. i'm just really annoyed right now.... am i being selfish???

i guess i would be annoyed too but if he's not in the bridal party he doesn't have to attend the rehearsal dinner...

you are NOT being selfish....HE is

they can add another day to their trip or schedule another trip to NYC if they want to do sightseeing.

You totally have a right to be annoyed. One thing I’ve learned planning my own wedding is that people really only think about themselves and what benefits them. It sux, but it’s true. Sorry

On the one hand, yes you should be annoyed. On the other, they're not part of the BP, so they don't really need to be at the RD. And if he lives in Italy and will only be here for two days, well then yea, he probably does want to spend one night in the city.

Even though they're walking your mom down the aisle, they don't REALLY need to be there for the RD.
