If she's in your Bridal Party and she's one of your Best Friends... I'd tell her how you feel. Ask her to see if she can get the night off for the rehearsal dinner bc she HAS to be there and the Bach Party - so what. I don't expect all my girls to come to mine. And don't think you should be upset with her. If she feels funny going, then she doesn't go. But I do think it's important for her to be at the rehearsal dinner. You're giving her plenty of time to get the time off from work. And truthfully, if she gives you trouble, question why she is even in your party to begin with. They are supposed to help you and make it easier on you, not cause extra trouble.

I worked in retail for a looooooooonnnnnngggg time and in most places inventory is just one of those things that you can't get out of. Try to be understanding.

One of my bridesmaids can't be a the RD either because of work. There is nothing she can do. It's the end of the month and she HAS to be there.

Sometimes real life does get in the way of things and you just have to be understanding.

I agree with this because I had a lot of friends in retail and inventory consumed their lives and they really could not get out of it!

But I think that if this is your Best Friend, you should go to her and let her know calmly how you feel. Don't keep things bottled up.

ITA. I worked in retail during college. EVERYONE that works in a store has to do inventory, there is no getting out of it unless it's an emergency.

Also, maybe the cruise is too expensive for the girls and they might be embarrassed to say it? I can be wrong (and probably am), but I know people say odd excuses when they feel embarrassed to say they can't afford something.

its a tough situation. i would be upset and you can voice that to your friend if you want but i know that inventory is something everyone gets stuck doing. i work in a retail related field (in the back offices not in the actual store) and there are certain days that we just cant take off...inventory is one of them. even though i am not stuck physically taking inventory, they want to show we are a team and dont let anyone off those days.

I was a floor manager for retail for a little while, and during inventory... EVERYONE was there. If you were management you were there. I tried to change my schedule once, as they had me on a shift ending at 12:30am for inventory and was scheduled for one at 6am the next day, and it was a no go.

Unfortunately, while its not a great situation, your friend really may not be able to get out of work that day, no matter how hard she tries :(
