I think more people eat chicken too but a lot of people do not eat red meat altogether. Something to think about.

I agree
ditto
I had the same problem when I was trying to finialize my menu, so I got my hall to add a 4th meat entree and told them the vegetarian doesnt really count cuz they can put together something easy and there would only be a handful of vegetarian requests anyway. You can try and see if that works for you.

we had duck or cornish game hen instead of chicken-- we had a poultry to be sure-- but most everyone ordered the filet.

Re: Do I HAVE to have Chicken as an option???
I think you need to have chicken. If there was no chicken as a choice, I would not really have anything to eat at the wedding as I do not eat red meat, don't like fish, and am not the biggest fan of vegetarian food. I think a lot of people would be upset if you did not have chicken. I think someone also mentioned duck-- duck is really different than chicken, its much more 'gamy (sp.)'. I don't think duck would serve as a good alternative to chicken. JMHO as a person who eats pretty much only chicken.

I think it's totally fine not to have chicken as an entree choice-between the cocktail hour, salad/pasta course, and desert-people that eat primarily chicken will probably be fine picking something they wouldn't normally eat, and I think it's a nice change of pace to have lamb on the menu (classy touch).

I think having chicken is a good idea. A lot of people eat chicken and steak...I think those are the two most common/safest choice. JMO

I think you might want to offer something other than 2 red meat options (lamb and beef) because there are a lot of people who won't eat either.

It is your wedding so have what you would like. We are having Filet Mignon, Pork Chop, and Swordfish as well as vegetarian lasagna. We opted not to have chicken. Also, I am sure if someone at your wedding has to have chicken your hall will be accomodating.

I agree, although I do eat meat sometimes I always get chicken and hate seafood. I would keep chicken as an option for pain in the neck guests like me

Definitely get a chicken dish. SOOOO many people at it at our wedding. Not to mention the Bourne makes an AWESOME chicken florentine wrapped in a puffed pastry bag. It was amazing!
