We are selecting our menu in a couple weeks, and wanted your feedback. Do you think Chicken is a must?
We are thinking about:

Re: Do I HAVE to have Chicken as an option???
My caterer offers 5 options with one having to be vegetarian. We will have: 1 beef 1 chicken 1 fish and either veal or lamb or duck
I would never choose duck over chicken because duck has much more fat and although it is poultry, it is only dark meat. Too many people only eat white meat chicken. I'm one of them.

At my wedding we had a filet, a fish and a veggie pasta option and nobody seemed disappointed. You know your guests and your tastes best.

I think that you need to have a chicken dish. From what I've seen, more people order the chicken at weddings than red meat or fish. There are a lot of people who don't eat red meat, and a lot who don't eat sea food. As much as I would LOVE to have lamb offered to me as a guest at a wedding, I wouldn't choose it instead of chicken.

As a vegetarian, I defintiely don't thin you need it. LOL. I think for people who don't eat red meat the veggie option should be fine, but I would defintiely choose the chicken over the lamb chops. Almost everyone eats chicken, it's always considered a 'safe' option. Lamb is a delicacy, but as such fewer people will really want to eat it. I'd replace the lamb with chicken!

I dont think so. I didnt have it nor did I want it. Between a meat, fish and vegetarian option, you're bases are covered.
There are alwasy going to be someone at the wedding who is unhappy with the choices no matter what you select. Go with what you think works.

yes, I think you need to have chicken
I agree! Too many people rely on the simple things to get by...it is always a good idea to have one common 'simple' dish to please those 'picky eaters'

Re: Do I HAVE to have Chicken as an option???
I knew I had a lot of picky eaters, including my mother, & one of my bridemsaids. I actually know people that don't eat red meat, fish or most vegables. ( so not like me!), so we made sure we had a chicken & that it was plain.
You can't please everyone, but consider the guests you know well & make you're decision from there.

I have chicken on my menu but dont really think you NEED to have it. Alot of the people I know dont eat red meat at all, they usually choose chicken next but they will eat fish and vegetarian too. I think you are covered. You are going to have picky eaters, you cant make everyone happy. Do what works for you.

JMO but I think you should always have beef, chicken and fish and then if your hall lets you have more than 3 you can add on vegetarian or lamb or something like that.

I think it's better to have a chicken plate. I think more people eat chicken.
