friends' on again off again boyfriends and girlfriends that I dont ever see?? Would it be mean if I didnt invite them? I mean, why should I invite someone I barely know when they arent a serious couple to begin with???

Re: Do I have to invite...
we are only inviting boyfriends and girlfriends of a serious nature. I don't think you HAVE to invite anyone.
I've been invited to weddngs when i had a boyfriend, and he wasnt invited even though we'd been together for a long time. I wasnt offended. Weddings are expensive. I'd rather invite people i'm close to than people i rarely see.

Re: Do I have to invite...
im confused, like do you need to invite them by themselves, or like just your friend w a guest. id say yes your friend w a guest but no your friend w a guest and then someone they date sometimes w a guest. im even more confused now, lol

Re: Do I have to invite...
okay, now i understand the question. i dont know on this one, i kinda feel like you need to invite friends with a guest even if they arent in a serious relationship. but if you have to cut corners, thats probably the best place to do it.

I think you just confused me too! Im going to re read your post slower
Okay Im saying just inviting them by themselves without inviting their on again off again boyfriend/girlfriend. For instance we know this couple who keeps breaking up and getting back together and now they still see eachother but dont have a 'title'. Is it mean if I dont invite his un-girlfriend? Okay this really is sounding confusing!

I think she means a friend---who has on/off again relationships with someone. like should she invite her friend with a guest, knowing they will probably just bring someone who they aren't serious with, just to have a date
i think this is a personal choice. DH and i invited all friends with a guest. only because i know how much i would HATE to be invited to a wedding, as a 'single' and have to sit a a dredded singles table while there are couples everywhere. most of our single friends did not bring a guest anyway, but appreciated we invited them with one.
but if your budget is tight, then only invite ppl who ar in a serious relationship or engaged as a couple, only. and let the single friends know that this is a budget thing.

Im probaly going to get alot of slack for this but I say invite those you want to invite and no one else...I am refusing to follow what is proper on this one...I want to enjoy my wedding with the people I love that are close to me that I want to share in my day ...period......if people dont like it oh well ..and I know this seems horrible but honestly I just dont feel the need to invite the aunt Ihavent seen since I was 2 or the friends boyfriend/girlfriend who has been around off and on for a year...I know its horrible but its what im doing

Thats the thing. I feel bad that they would sit by themselves but FH had to sacrifice some of the people he wanted to invite because my side of the family is 75 people. And that only left him 25 people to invite. He doesnt have a big family at all but he wanted to invite some more of his close friends and their parents. Our friends know were on a serious budget so hopefully they'll understand. God, Im so dreading sending the invites out. There so much politics involved when it should just be FUN!

I dont think youre mean at all for doing this. I wish I could do it but like a dummy, I care to much about what my family is going to say if I dont invite certain people. Good for you!

ditto - I am inviting everyone with a guest. Regardless of their situation...

Well listen, I mean if you are sitcking to a certain number of invites then theyll just have to understand. I mean those are the ones to cut if they are not in a serious relationship. Theyll just have to understand that weddings these days are very expensive and you cant invite everyone.

You arent a dummy ..and I guess I do care and normally I am the one who sacrifices what I want to keep the piece ...and I just want this one day to be about me and FH and the kids and who we want around us
