I am sorry if this a stupid question....but if the receiption hall is making the cake don't they put flowers on it for you?

You don't need one. We are putting our cake topper next to our cake and having flowers on the cake

i guess it depends on your hall, but our florist is providing the cake flowers.

We're having a bow and some sugar flowers on the top of ours, so there's no room for a cake topper with all that other action going on I'm sad too--I really wanted that ball and chain one....
