I'm at the point where i can't decide if i need one or not. i need you ladies to share you stories... have you used a DOC for your wedding? Are you having one? Not? I need help making a decision and I'm not sure if they are a useful expense or if it's a waste of money!

Re: Do I NEED a DOC?
It is a matter of choice.. No one can tell you yes or no.. I did have one. I wanted the day to be stress free for my mom and MIL as well as my Bridal party. I didnt want to worry about vendors or things being done and vendors asking me questions. That day was for me and my DH to enjoy our selves. We had a big bridal party and decent size guest list. So for me.. it made sense.

I'm not getting one because I can't justify spending the money on this, I really don't think I personally need one.

Re: Do I NEED a DOC?
I didnt have one and everything turned out perfect. Did I get a phone call or two? yes, but its ok. I like to be in control and that was money that I saved. I also had everything lined up and had different family members responsible for different things. My MD really served as my DOC once the ceremony started. It's up to you.

I didn't have one and I didn't think I missed out on anything. But then again, I had a lot of help from my mom!

I agree 100%. Nobody can tell you that a DOC is something you have to get and there is no way you can't have one. Many ppl have weddings without one, its completely up to you on this one. I felt the same way as Kim, i wanted to be stress free, also for my mom and bp. I didnt want to worry about vendors either or know about any little thing going wrong, i didnt want to also feel like i had to keep an eye on t hings. I wanted to just enjoy my day and not worry about any details. After 2 years of planning, the morning i woke up on May 17, 2008 i actually yelled out WOO HOO NO MORE TO DO LIST NO MORE PLANNING! lol so i was glad to not do anything. But again this was a personal decision. FOr me hiring a DOC was a great choice, but everybody is different.

Re: Do I NEED a DOC?
thanks ladies! i agree that it's a personal choice. i was having a hard time trying to decide if i wanted one and i guess it helps to hear why other girls have and have not hired them. i guess i just have to decide if i can afford it and if i really want one :o) thanks so much for the input though! i love LIW forums for this reason!!

Re: Do I NEED a DOC?
I agree. I can't see spending that unncessary $. I have a bridal attendant who i'm paying separately for a lot of the same stuff a DOC would do

Re: Do I NEED a DOC?
I didn't have one and I had the same exact question as you before my wedding...I wondered after my day was over whether I should have had one though bec a couple of things happened behind the scenes that I wasn't happy about...I wondered if having a DOC would have eliminated the problems before they occurred. In my case we really couldn't spare the expense and that's what made my decision for me but I think I would have had one if I could have...I would call a couple to ask exactly how they can help you and what their services include to help you make up your mind.
