Do I need a mortgage pre-approval to put a bid on a house?
TIA!

TIA!
You don't NEED it, but I would strongly recommend it. If you're dealing with a realtor they would probably like to present it with the offer to show you're serious and capable of getting a mortgage.
no you don't need to be pre-approved however a lot of home owners don't like showing the house to people who aren't. DH and I would lie to the home owners and say that we were - when it came down to finding our house we were approved and in contract within days. not something to stress!!!
You don't need one, but you're certainly a weaker buyer without one. Many house we looked at would not bother accepting offers unless accompanied by a pre-approval letter.
usually, then won't want to take your offer without it and frankly, if you make a bid w/o being approved, what if it's more than you qualify to borrow?
