If your going on the weekend, they do recomend you make an appointment. It can get busy!

I've gone there for BM dresses and every time I go (weekends) it's been very busy. There is always an incredible amount of small children there. Some screaming, some running

you don't need one Monday-Thursday, but i still suggest making one b/c it can get crazy busy even in the middle of the week.

It can't hurt to make one, but I've popped in last minute to look at bm dresses, and was allowed to just go around by myself. For wedding gowns, its different, you need an attendant.
ETA: If you don't have time to make an appointment, just go anyway. You might have to wait, but they won't turn you away. I've had mixed experiences with customer service at DB. Great service in Queens and New City, horrible at the Source Mall. Good luck!
