do I really need a cake?

I already booked my cake, but I'm not very excited about it at all (no fault to the vendor, fh & I just don't really like cake).
Is anyone else skipping a cake in favor of another dessert?
Each week that goes by, I'm leaning more towards cancelling, but I don't know if I'm just being silly ....

do I really need a cake?

I've seen couples opt for an Viennese hour or ice cream sundae bar, in lieu of a traditional cake. It's completely up to you and what you and your FH want. If you hate cake and don't feel a pull toward the tradition of cake cutting, then go with another option.

do I really need a cake?

We don't eat cake either and are still thinking about what we're going to do. We have seen mini pastries given to each guest (4 each), and I have also seen the guest given cake but the bride and groom cut a pizza pie. Let me know if you hear of a better alternative to the cake

do I really need a cake?

Is your venue giving you your cake? I would definitely ask if you could have a different dessert in its place. Lots of places will give you an ice cream sundae bar.

No, my reception doesn't include a cake, but they do have dessert options. Maybe ill try one of those.
I do like the idea of a sundae bar.. I'll definitely check that option out.

do I really need a cake?

If your reception doesn't include cake, I would look into something else! When we toured venues there were many options for dessert that wouldn't be cake. For example, one I can't recall which, had passed desserts. So waiters would walk around with cake pops, cake bites, small pasteries etc.. What about a pie(s) or even cupcake tower? I think there are many routes to take if you don't want to do a cake. Look on Pinterest, there are all kinds of great dessert bars on there: coridal bar, cookie bar, chocolate fountain... Can you tell I like dessert? I think dessert is my favorite lol.

do I really need a cake?

My MOH had a dessert bar and just got a cake with a cake topper for cutting the cake pictures. None of us even noticed there wasn't any cake because the desserts were so good!

Re: do I really need a cake?

We couldn't fathom not having a cake but it all comes down to personal preference. I have heard of couples opting for other desserts. Not uncommon.

do I really need a cake?

Thanks for the ideas ladies!!
I think I'm going to take advantage of my venue's gelato bar option and then talk to my cake Baker about providing some other dessert options instead.
Some people were making it like I was crazy to not have a cake! So I appreciate everyone's honest opinion.:)
