You don't HAVE to have one, but it makes it easier for guests to drop off gifts

This!! I have seen brides in the past carry a satchel to put the cards in but you would have to have someone watch it afterwards.

I saw this years ago. i think it's kind of tacky and its much better to have a card box so guests dont feel uncomfortable and can just put the card in the box whenever....

I totally agree! My mom tried to push this idea on me and I ended up buying the card box so I won that battle LOL She is concerned that someone might steal from it. Oh mom LOL

our RH told us a story of a mother of the groom stealing purses out of the bridal suite. they had cameras, so it wasnt a big deal but ANYTHING can happen!

Wow the MOG?!! That is crazy

OMG thats HORRIBLE!!

Re: Do I really need a card box??

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for all your advice! I just read all of your responses!

I can the point of not wanting to carry around cards and not have to make people chase my FH and I around to give us a card.

This brings of lots different points to discuss with FH and then we can decide what we will do. At first I thought I wouldn't do it, but you all have so many good reasons for it!

Thank you all so much! It's so helpful to hear what other brides are doing.

Re: Do I really need a card box??

You should really have a card box to keep all of the envelopes in one safe place during the reception. If you just pile them onto a table they can easily fall or be misplaced. Do you need to buy one, no, you can always rent them. Some RH's have them to rent, and some florists do as well. Usually your cake is displayed to the one side of your dais table, and the gift/card table to the other. If you feel like your guests will be confused, write up a little sign saying what it is for. Try and make it cute so it's not like 'put money here', you can google some different ideas!

Re: Do I really need a card box??

Well I went to the tasting this weekend with the fam and discussed the card box issue.

We are going to use a bag made from my fiances great grandmothers wedding dress to hold the cards in. It is the same bag that his mother used at their wedding.

Then my grandmother will keep an eye on it. She had the same job at my e-party and it worked out very well.

Thanks for all the advice! It definately helped in this decision!

What's a good saying for a sign? 'Cards' or 'Thank You' or something else?

I need to make something to put near or on the birdcage I think. Otherwise a lot of people may get confused. Unless I put a fake card in there so that people will be like THAT's where you put the gift cards right?
